The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
