Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Weather Systems
Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating strong winds topping over 100 km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Residents reported substantial frozen pellets as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- The Werribee area - experienced considerable storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests
At the height on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
